🕵🏽 What is the difference between comedogenic and non-comedogenic?

🏛️ By the way, the word "comedogenic" comes from the Latin word "comedere ," meaning "to eat," hence the technical term "blackhead" for comedones. Since comedones are pores clogged with sebum , they tend to appear more frequently in areas with more sebaceous glands, especially in the T-zone .

🤔 What are blackheads and whiteheads?

⚫⚪ Closed comedones or whiteheads , sebum-filled bumps under the skin, can develop into open comedones over time. Unlike pimples , open comedones or blackheads don't involve bacteria or even inflammation, so they are generally not painful. However, a blackhead can also develop into a painful pimple if the excess sebum isn't removed.

👀 What should I pay attention to when buying cosmetic products?

Generally, you should use non-comedogenic products, especially for oily and combination skin, to prevent the formation of blackheads. Heavy oils and waxes, such as coconut oil or sunflower oil, as well as environmentally questionable ingredients like mineral oil, paraffins, or silicones, are often comedogenic.

😮 What can I do about blackheads when it's already too late?

Double cleansing is a particularly gentle yet thorough form of cleansing. It combines an oil and a water phase . The oil dissolves the oily sebum in the pores, and the water-based cleanser then removes these oils from the skin without leaving any residue.
